(176) Five Directions Back to the Creative Life

1. Go back to reading novels two hours a day.

2. Walk the neighborhood, the park, the beach.

3. Beneath the stack of magazines, find the poetry collection.

4. Play, play the guitar, the mandolin, until your fingers cramp.

5. You are almost there, the words have started flowing.

6. I said five, but the coffee in my cup says six.

  1. Good for you! hard to believe it takes such a concerted effort to get back into the creative groove, but I’ve been there. Like, after having my kiddos 3x/week this summer, I’m already worried about when they go back to school inAugust, substituting doing something creative on my own for their most rambunctious company is going to be quite an effort.

  2. I was really in the groove, then let myself fall out. I think that is needed, though. I am sure you will be ready for your own quiet creativity by the time they go to school.
